Learn from movies
As you know, I always give you beneficial information as well as tips
about “how to learn easily and with entertainment”, also I have written about
effective methods of learning.
So, today I want to give information about how to learn by watching movies. Yes, there are some rules and ways about how to learn by watching movies.
Let’s turn to the method itself, I want to mention that if you start to learn languages from the beginning don’t try to watch the full movie and especially without subtitles, it’s not effective. So, what to do? π€
First of all, when you are in beginner and elementary levels (which are the first 2 levels of English language), start by watching short videos. This can be, “6 minutes English”, “TED video” or any video that last 5-6 minutes and which you can understand easily. Then, when your level increases, which mean that when you will be pre-intermediate and intermediate (which are the next 2 levels of English language) start watching cartoons. Yes, yes you read correctly I write cartoons because in pre-intermediate level your language skills still aren’t so good to watch movies. This is because pre-intermediate is the transitional level between elementary and pre-intermediate. Try to choose short cartoons and watch them with subtitles, so that you can hear the words, see them and understand. After some period of time, for example, when you had watched 3 cartoons and understand them properly, you can start watching movies. Again watch with subtitles. In intermediate and all levels after intermediate stop watching with subtitles and try to watch as you do it with your native language movies. This will help you to think as native speakers. π‘
Time by time you won’t need any translation, your brain will accept and understand sentences as in your own language. Another advantage of this method is that when you watch you will learn visually, know where and how to use words, you will also understand what it wants to say from movements, gestures, and expressions. As a result, you will learn by a much more natural way.
I hope that my blog was useful for all of you. If you have any questions you can write here on the blog or on the Instagram page, also in comments on Instagram. Good luck. π
